GARDENS EDITION
                         VOICE OF COUNCIL GARDENS

The wonderful experience of gardening, and all of efforts of those who create such wonderful displays of flowers and plants, can inspire the beauty of that special place within our beings.  Letting the prolifically abundant natural setting of Council Gardens bring a quiet sense of joy, peace to our souls as we emerge from this experience of personal health, sheltering and isolation.  It truly is a blessing we can acknowledge.
  Billy Cauley

The vegetable garden is the joy of our life. Breath of fresh air, movement of our stiff joints, delight of watching and helping plants grow, deep satisfaction with the fruit of your labor and ability to share it with others- that what it is all about.  Unfortunately, we do not get younger, and our backs, arms, legs scream: "Oy Vey" when we need to bend down to the ground. But we don't want to give up. And then we cling to the opportunity to work at the raised gardens. Easier on our aging backs. It turned out, sitting on a new comfortable garden chair, you can work longer and even get up without assistance. These are all small pleasures in life. My neighbor once told me that Russians are healthy and strong. I wish it were true. But in fact, much of our strength comes from the hardships we endured.  In the course of our lives, we learned that work and physical activity help us to survive. Work in the garden - is way to live the life to its fullest.

Outside my window red roses bloom.
Along my path, flowers of all kind parade.
Flowers, yellow and tall,
Small pansies faces,
Hyacinth’s purple haze,
Tiny daisies smile.
Roses of all colors:  pink, yellow, white, and of course red.
Flowers that I do not even know their names.
All color the world of Council Gardens.

Council Gardens has the most beautiful gardens. When I look out of my window, I overlook the boxes of various plants. It is such a pleasure to watch plants grow and flowers bloom. Walking through the breezeways, and looking outside, makes one believe you are walking through a flower show. I want to thank all of the volunteers, who made this all possible, I really do appreciate all of their hard work.

We are surrounded not only by beauty here at Council gardens, but by a little farm and we live right in the middle of it all!
Grown by two master gardeners, Lyudmila Klemesheva and Mariya Gokhman, we live in an abundance of healthy, naturally grown produce that we can be sure is pure and pesticide free. When we receive these vegetables, they are sometimes still wearing dew! I love it here!                                                                               Eileen McDade
