Council Gardens

Sunflowers make people smile.

When I moved to Council Gardens 16 years ago, I quickly picked up that gardening was the common denominator among all the residents. To my delight, the raised garden beds were installed, so that I could garden from my wheelchair. I have gardened almost every year since then. I have grown enough tomatoes and eggplants and basil for an army. This year, I chose to go in a different direction. I planted all sunflowers. The giant ones, with huge heads.  It’s my hope that by the time they all bloom, they’ll be so tall, you will be able to see them from all over the property.

How My Garden is My Savior

Picture
I started with 4x4 ft. box filled with holy soil. Life giving minerals. And one day I woke up and discovered a whole bunch of seedings. They came from God. I got them in the employee’s garage. I carried all the seedings in a box upon my holy rollator. From there on out they were the work of God. I did nothing more than to transform them into a productive food supply rich jungle. To this day I have given up all my vices and when the weather permits, I transfer life giving water thus nourishing the vegetables.  Otherwise, it rains. Thank you, God. The tomatoes grow by the day as well do the peppers.  I’m a God-fearing religious man. I come from the Jews of Eastern Europe. I don’t know for certain where my plants origins are except, I got them through a holy ceremony in the garage. I’m a religious man as you can see. My garden remains a blessing. Perhaps even, you might say … a miracle. I have no wife nor children… only a few plants.  Thank you, Lord.

Finally at Home!!!

From my first day here, I felt right at home. I feel welcomed, secure and at peace. I love to sit out in the garden area, admiring beautiful flowers, enjoying the beautiful weather and talking to my neighbors. I feel like I have another family here. Everyone is so friendly and caring, and this is the way the world needs to be.

"Hidden Gem in Cleveland Heights"

I was born as Princess of Harlem at 110th 5 Avenue in New York, later in my life I moved to what I call the “Hidden Gem in Cleveland Heights.”    I am so glad to be living here at Council Gardens. The gardens and beautiful grounds are very clean. I am happy that I can sit out and enjoy nature.  The staff here work very hard to make sure we have a welcoming, warm and safe home. I am very happy in my new home. If I need anything, I do not have to hesitate to reach out.   It is safe and very peaceful here!                                                                                                    Caroline Gibson
